A DREAM COME TRUE

could you really believe that the institute of computing just got 20 new computer units?

well, it's not a mock, but sort of. it's been several years since the foundation of the institute of computing, and the computers remain in medieval age. can you imagine? inside the IClab1 there are so many computers, but not all are operational. institute of computing is suppose to be the learning hub for IT pros. but what do they use in house? computers with only 98mb of RAM shared with the graphic card. hey! that's way too slow for a computer language software. mouse operated by track ball, keyboard with tartar should i say.

but what a pleasant surprise that just this Wednesday, October 8 year 2008. IC jsutgot 20 new units.
specs? well

dual core processor
AOC 15" crt monitors
new set of spill proof keyboards and optical mouse
asus lightscribe cd/dvd writers

well, not bad for a new set of computers
but it has no video card, and i don't know if the memory has reached to more than 1gb

bad news?
going back to our previous campaign; the green campus computing, the new set of computer somehow doesn't help. in what aspect? well CRT monitors produce a lot of heat then LCD monitors. but on the other hand, since it has a faster processing speed, it will hasten the students task and let them use the computer for a shorter time. that is if the students would stop using the computer after their important task.
and the new computers are not intended to be used inside the computer lab or the IT students computer training lab. instead, it will be used for the nodal center. well not really that bad.
good news?
it's still in the custody of IC and internet surfing and browsing, programming inside the nodal center, etc. will be faster and more efficient.

may be it's not that usual or believable, but hey it really is, we unloaded the delivery truck with our own efforts, it is really true. and we saw it with our own eyes.
maybe after several years of school resolution, the long process of paper works to order for a government university has been done. well, lets wait for more years of long process before the university can have all the latest tech today. i mean after 5 years or so, that is the time the university can afford to upgrade technology basing on this year's trend. get the picture?

Some Tips on how to prevent "Viruses" from entering your System

Some people may encounter several problems regarding computer viruses. actually, it depends upon the user on how he/she accesses files, whether from the internet or from a local network and even from a portable device.

some viruses are generated through reckless accessing of files inside portable drives. some viruses are generated when a certain file is accessed through double clicking. me and my fellow I.C.T students experienced some of this problems regarding computer virus, and yet we learned a lot of lesson. if we commit to do a wrong step in accessing our important files it always turns out to be ridiculous.

now, I don't want you to be a part of this problem. so I'm sharing some stuff that we know.

below are steps on how to prevent virus from entering you system.

i used a situation wherein the user is accessing a file from a portable drive that came from other unsecured computer. this may not work on some other viruses but will surely help you and lessen the threat of virus interference.

this is both to prevent the virus inside the foreign computer from entering your portable device and preventing virus from entering into you PC due to file access from portable device.

recommended: scan your device first.

this tip is used to double your security from viruses especially when your virus scanner is not updated.

1.

after you plugged the device to you Universal Serial Bus hub (USB hub) there will be an autorun executed by the computer.

remember: always click cancel!!! do not choose from th option and click OK. CANCEL only.

why: some viruses generate when you choose and operation from the autorun option.

2.

go to MyComputer.

3.

you will see the new device.

remember: do not double click the drive!!!

why: some viruses generate when a device is double clicked. mostly on File Folders.

4.

click "Folders" (see figure)

5.

you will see a window at the side of the main window. now click the device from there. or another option is: right click the device then choose "explore".

remember: not to double click... AGAIN!!!

6.

after you click the device, it will give a drop down list of all the folders inside. choose the folders you want to access from the menu. continue doing it until there is still an existing folder.

remember: do not double click a file folder... AGAIN and AGAIN!!

now there are file folders viewable in the main window but can't be seen in the folders window. why? this folders are application folders that serve as spy ware or somewhat virus generator.

now, how cold you determine that it is really a threat?

select the view option "details". click "type". if the folder isn't in the folder menu and the size is more than 0kb then do not access it.

remember: a valid folder type for a file folder in windows XP is "file folder" and "application" for windows vista. and a file folder has only 0kb, regardless of the content. I'm not sure with windows vista because we don't really give a try on that OS. Vista sucks for us until now. maybe we will use that if we can't hear any glitches anymore. take note, windows vista has several BAD reviews over the internet. i dare you, don't try it. haha

testimonial: after we did the double clicking thing, the task manager was GONE!!!
im not sure what kind of problem you could get from it. but we sure did get the same problem. it has also truncated the scvhost.exe from the system.

so i guess this is it. ill keep this topic updated on new posts if i find new tips.

Always remember to update you virus scanner, even though we have a strong doubt that viruses are made by virus scanner software maker company, it's still a must that you update you scanner. [to get rid their new virus]

The dominant industry, should I say, of information environment today is more of the multimedia industry. That’s the kind of information environment I want myself to be a part of. Everywhere, in the television, radio, and even in internet. All you can hear and see are part of this information environment of multimedia Industry. This specific area of information is too general. But that’s what’s making me soaked into this kind of environment even as early as now. Engaging me into this field would be both hard and easy in some aspects.

Ever since several kinds of broadcast methods started, multimedia industry has also become a part of the big picture. I mean, what would be the broadcasting’s art without it? Broadcasting itself is already multimedia. Never will multimedia survive without being supplied with the latest in information technology. In this vast and fast progression of information in our generation, updates in multimedia are a big demand. In order to be competitive enough in this industry, it is a must that you’ll be the frontier in the latest update in information today.

Now, what are some of the common multimedia representation that we see? Advertisement, animations, graphics, audio, website, and even other applications in some common gadgets.
Animation, what comes in your mind when you her anime? For sure you’ll think of cartoons. How about animation? Maybe how cartoons are made. Well that could be accepted. But see, animation has been playing a big role in commerce. It has shown a big impact from young ones until adults. Simple animations can generate your pocket with more money. Television commercials are made through animations that attract consumers. Also in movie industry, animation plays a big role. This has also become a part of the information environment.

Graphics has also become a part of this multimedia industry that also gave a big impact. I’m so much inclined in creating graphics. It’s not just about making images. Graphical multimedia also includes several stuffs that involve graphics. Like me, I’m also fund of creating shirt designs. Again, another good source of income. As early as now I could gain profit from my designs that is why I also am more into this kind of information environment.

Audio multimedia has also now become a trend. But not just speaking of being trendy, it also is a part of this information era. You just don’t create sounds or whatever. You also have to learn it. It doesn’t always have to be made by artists. Remember that software used by recording companies is made by computer wizards. Singers don’t make it. This still includes us techie guys as one of the people group who can work on several areas. There’s just got to be some sort of specialization.

Animation and audio industry as a link to the information environment is more likely to be understood as some sort of industry where information is needed. It doesn’t mean you have to be an artist or whatever it needs to be. I’m citing the fact that as information technology specialist, we could participate in these areas through establishing specializations in creating some sort of software that could help enhance the certain industries.

Websites, web developing, or other web thingy. These play a big part in the world of information. Everywhere you go, as long as internet is accessible, the World Wide Web is just at the tips of your fingers. Information can be shared in and is at the reach of every mankind. Now what’s interesting in engaging yourself into the world of internet? Though some are not totally beneficial, if you know what I mean, being a part of its world can give you more than what you want, more than what you need. But still it is not a god. Businesses, lifestyle, communication, I mean everything is in store for you. Internet has changed the lives of several people. This is one reason why others even me myself would want to be in this kind of trend. You could even change something through the web. Earning money is more than just a piece of cake. Since when did clicking make money? When internet began, almost all of the things to make life easy came to reality. Communication became more intimate; selling has now reached the overseas.

Now what really makes it interesting in web industry? Let’s try to put the other multimedia examples that I said. Starting in making a web site you will have to know basics in using several computer languages. Then you can crate scripts in making a web site. Now, let us integrate graphics. To make a web site presentable enough for your target of presentation you have to have a design. Now graphical designs are being used here. You have to create graphics that will make a website look good. It is common in all websites. And in web industry now, one CSS(cascading style sheet [used in designing web sites]) can cost more than Php25000, you only have to know how to make cascading style sheet on a web page. Then, as an IT student, undergoing database analysis and design will be helpful in creating a web site. Dynamic web sites can cost Php30000 per package. These prices are freelance price demand. See how you could make big money out of multimedia?

So how can we integrate animation in web developing? You just have to have a know-how in creating simple animation and you can embed it to the page. Now, the rates of simple flash animation could cost Php100 per second, try to think of it, making a simple animation is easy, and do you think there are clients who want to have animations in there site for just 1 second? I don’t think so.

Then the audio, these are miscellaneous in websites. But it still is useful for some.

And one more fact, creating websites nowadays such as websites specified as web 2.0s can make you rich in just a snap. Many have become rich because of websites just like the creators of youtube, mySpace, facebook, dig, etc. Who knows, we could become one. In just a snap, instant Filipino billionaire. See? There’s nothing bad in being ambitious, it also helps, just don’t take it to deep that it might take your dignity out.

Even as a programming major or networking major, the information environment of multimedia still fits the job. In all these aspects, the expertise can be applied. It’s not merely engaging in this industry just to be one of those who are good in using, but making use of the profession as ones who will enhance the innovation of existing technology. This wide range of opportunity will enable people under the information industry participate in major economical issues. Through this, information industry can dominate the economy.

So how can the principles of information organization and representation help me in performing this role? Since putting I’m looking forward for myself in taking this step for my status or even now that I am slowly making it happen, the principles will help me establish my goal, whether to pursue or change my mind. As I mold myself as a being participating in such environment, considering the principles would be helpful enough to look forward for plans, and young as I am, I can establish visions and goals I have to achieve the moment I put myself into it. I should consider the place I will be participating, that all those things I am planning to pursue under the environment will be enough to support it. Looking forward to a positive outcome is always our aim, how could someone think of a plan without merely reflecting. Making a pre-step in my plans will enable me to push through the plans that I have. In this information environment of multimedia, considering the principles is a must, looking at it to see if the principles may be applied in my zone. As early as now, I do have to decide where I will be working for that plan, and the principles will help guide me through the destination of my work responsibility.

What are the challenges that I will take in stepping through this plan? Or what are those barriers that I should consider? Well this is what makes it hard, the competition between people participating in multimedia is very strong. As if the traffic of vehicles are heavy. As I heard some experiences, being recognized or being on top you have to go through several sacrifices. You see, even elementary got the know-how on computers. I could consider them as challenge. Can you imagine even those kids could bring down ideas of elders. How could you pursue if at the first place your initial rivals are kids? That is one good challenge for me. But as for the experience and status, if a student really finishes studies and got some bonus skill plus patience, there is nothing impossible in reaching goals.

Another thing that I could take as a serious challenge is the real world of multimedia, you see, if you apply to a company that is inclined to multimedia its either of the two, you get the job or you find another job. But I don’t. The very hard thing is being a freelancer. But as a graduate, why would you go freelancing if you could manage to give it your shot for companies?

Another thing is economy; being part of the multimedia industry you have to look at the zone if it is fit for the job. Just like what I said, you have to consider the principles in pursuing the plan or else you’ll get frustrated. If the multimedia economy in a place is good, then go on. It’s always good to see the demand of your service in a place. If not, it will be hard for you to make a living. Honestly speaking, all of these things are for the purpose of living as a normal human who needs a shelter food and clothing. If the place is not good for you, then go, find another place if you want to insist your goals for yourself. It’s better than to change your mind at the end of everything. Make a move.

But for me, the most difficult challenge a person could have is he himself. It’s a matter of commitment and discipline. Not yet as a true professional in the said information environment but as a student yet. How could all this self envisions be done if at the beginning of every step a person has already been corrupt to his own self? Even if he could find a turning point, everything will be out of its place. You see, every person blames other things for some sort of mistakes, but the truth is the person, he himself, is also the one to be blamed. It is not sometimes but always. For we are the one who chooses for our own. We make our own decision. We have our free will, so we have our own consequences to be faced for every step we make along the way. We are lead and guided by God in a way that he provided us, it is through his word-The Bible. Now being corrupt Id really a matter of self management, committing mistakes are part of our undirected decisions.

Face it, you are the hardest being to tame. You can’t even face yourself well in the mirror if the problem is within you. You even try to deny yourself.

After all of these, choosing to be in a specific information environment, such as the multimedia industry, is both easy and hard. It is easy in a way that achieving it will be simple if discipline within one’s self is present and hard in such a way that our selves are the most difficult thing to manage. We ourselves are the biggest challenge for us.
I’m looking forward for all of us to become successful one day. More than just what we know and dream about.

Google chrome(new web browser)

a new web browser was recently released by google, it called the Google chrome.
along with it are still the same features of the typical web browsers being used today. well one of it is tabbing.

a friend of mine said that according to the net browser speed tester, the performance was good(fast web browsing). so i didn't hesitate to try it.

there are things about the browser that i like. one of it is making the address bar and google bar in one. next is the way it makes an auto bookmark on your most visited site.it makes a clickable screen shot of the website you usually visit,making it easy for you to access and go to the site with just one click.

but these are the things that i don't like about it, when ever i open youtube or friendster i encounter some sort of page problems and the browser wants to kill or cancel the running application on the active website being browsed. and when i tried it on mozilla firefox 3, there is no problem.

i still have to evaluate the browser, so why don't you try it too. i mean there is nothing bad in trying it after reading my experience about it.

i can say there are still glitches, i'm not sure if its with my system or the browser itself. but this is what i found out.

i would rate 3 out of 5 for google chrome.
i cant use it for web developing, unlike firefox that has many plug ins.

i also want to learn from your experience in using.

insource or outsource?

as for the situation, i, personally will have to suggest to outsource. but before everything else, if i am really in the zone, this will be my reflection.

first, i would have to determine what services the school is handling inside the perimeters with its own sources inside. then i would site some facts where the school is in need of outsourcing. there are situations inside the school that can be handled by its own capability in manpower and so to say equipments. but as for UsEP's situation, i would really insist in suggesting to OUTSOURCE services for the school.

why? even though UsEP has its own human resource, it is still not enough in making up the plans of the school(as for me). maybe its not with the employees, somehow i need to site the administration. its been long time since UsEP has been employing effective professors, employees, etc. but have they use them in full potential? for me? i guess not. they would still need to believe people from outside the school whom they think can provide better solution. well in that case, UsEP is really looking out for an OUTSOURCE service. even if UsEP could handle service of its own, as far as i can see, it takes time before it is being done. i don't know why. its ridiculous. some time it still needs to be in the situation of "oh, this is not good, lets make a solution for this." just like the sheryl sarate case. did they think of the worst thing that could happen inside the school? they made a move after the tragedy. before everything is done a plan should be made along with the solutions for possibilities that could happen. so who is to be blamed?

so why outsourcing?

well, the haste in operation will be rest assured to fast. why? it's simply because it is the nature of their service. can outsourced personnel give enough reason to make the services delayed? another is, the people who will operate has this level of expertise that is according to what the school is needing. and the quality of service is being satisfied. and if there is to be blamed, there is enough evidence to blame the service personnel.

also in outsourcing, we have several choices of the services we need. we are not limited.

since it has been a tradition of UsEP to outsource, why not continue until UsEP is able to handle excellent self service inside. and besides, no more "trial-an-error" inside UsEP's operation.

its always best to rationalize every step being made. so this is how i rationalize my stand in outsourcing.

SONA - HRM

in my previous original post that was gone(don't know where it went), i was cited education and several government agencies that are related to HRM.

I have started reforming and clustering the programs of the DepEd, CHED and TESDA."- the fact that our country needs to push through education matters, is one thing regarding human resource. this program reform will also create an effect to the human resource of this depertments.

"Pinagsasama-sama natin ang mga programa ng DSWD, DOH, GSIS, SSS" - this has also something to do with Human resource, in innovating the programs of such agencies, people under this organizations have to be managed well in order to perform proper service to filipino people. coordinating with the other departments needs managing of human resource in order to create harmony in uniting the programs.

"On my instruction, the BIR and Customs established similar government-civil society tie-ups for information gathering and tax evasion and smuggling monitoring." - about this concern, the government should be very strict in implementing this tie-up, for we know that in this agencies all stuffs that come in and out of the country pass by them. therefore, the human resource in this agencies should be well oriented. as for the rumors, smuggled products that enter the country are granted by this people to pass wthout tax.

in my discussion, i focused on things regarding tie-ups and uniting programs. because for me, this are some events and breakthrough that makes HRM a big issue in making this things happen.

If you were hired by the university as an IT consultant, what would you suggest ?

if i am to be hired by the University and and be given the chance to resolve the internet problem, then it would really be a great opportunity. oh well, here are some of the things that i would consider in fixing the problem.

1. computer - of course even if the internet is fast and the computers aren't able to give a piece of contentment, then users cant still appreciate the internet service provided by the university. and as i observed, a faster and more efficient computer is able to perform fast internet browsing and loading rather than using a slow computer and working on minimal memory capacity. and as for the performance of the computer, if it is fast then we are on to supporting the green campus computing. as i discussed in my green campus computing article, a fester and more efficient computer would would help minimize the work time which can help save energy(that causes CO2 emission). and this also gives time for the others to avail of the computers in labs for they can finish there task earlier and give way for the waiting students.

2.bandwidth distribution - as what I've learned from amigoas internet cafe(and as well practiced in other cafes) they divide the bandwidth for each computer. in each computer, an allotted BW is given so the streaming and loading will be well distributed. through this no one will be prioritized, everyone is equal. but this is an option if ever the system isn't implemented yet in the university.

3.open the wi-fi connection - this is ridiculous, usep is putting up a restricted wi-fi? say!! for what? for employees who got their own table an a computer? this must be unrestricted. while labs cant accommodate all students at a time, others could use a little benefit from the wireless network.

4.open a new internet connection provided for the wi-fi - if the internet connection of wi-fi and wired connection is shared, wi-fi will be useless, for there will be a tendency that the wi-fi connection will be as slow as dial-up connection or even worse.

5.open all sites for browsing - wheres the essence of internet if browsing is limited to some sites only. of course im not telling that it should be open to gambling and porn sites too for this are too reasonable to be restricted for students.

for now this are some of my ideas. there are still many things to learn and a lot to create for resolutions. this are all based from my observations, case studies and rationalizing.

SONA - ICT

as i read the SONA speech(coz our 2 televisions got busted and we don't have any friend in our neighbor thats why i just have to read it). i found some areas where IT graduates are really needed, and so as said in the instructions look for 3, here are what i found, ill give 4.

1. Financial Government and non-Government institution - ICT is greatly related in this area, for we can improve the system in this financial institution for a better and effective access not just for the workers but also for the clients and customers.

2. Government departments - ICt participation will be well innovated in this departments especially regarding the IS/IT of the institutions. same as the financial institutions.

3. Education - ICT can improve the education, not just through teaching ICT related subject bit in aspects like giving the easiest way of learning in an ICT way. the innovation of ICT in education would create a big leap in bringing education.

4. Cyberservices - the president mentioned about the tourism and cyberservices. which means a great participation of ICT could make it happen better. she said that only India is beating us in this terms, so this means ICT is one of the governments demand.

as i read the other articles there are several areas where an ICT graduate can improve but these are my top picks in her speech that i can really say a pure ICT is needed.

What are the risks associated with business and IS/IT change?

for me there are some common risk that can be associated when an IS/IT is being changed.

1. minor malfunctions of the system(implementation) - when a certain system is change, of course the practice will also be changed. thus, there will be a tendency that the implementation of the system will encounter some difficulties in letting the people adapt the change in the system.

2. loss of data - there will be a tendency that during the system change some data will be lost at hand while the operation of the change is ongoing. that is, if the people responsible in changing the system is dumb enough to oversee some things and commit mistakes in the work.

3. mistakes in operation - when a new system is implemented, there will be a tendency that people will not easily adapt the system even for the people who will be served by an institution. a lot of people involved in the new operation will not easily get used to the system.

4. temporary loss of integrity - trust will not be established between people who benefit from the system for it is still new, doubts in making transaction under the system will be common but only temporal.

5. commonly committing mistake - if the people are new under the system, people operating the system might commit mistakes while operation is being done.

Identify and discuss barriers in IS/IT

there are some factors th at could affect or serve as a barrier n creating an IS/IT.

some factors that could affect the implementation of an IS/IT are:

financial problem - in implementing IS/IT, we cant deny that "money matters" is one of the key factors to pursue an IS/IT plan. lacking financial support may block the implementation of IS/IT.

communication problem - without proper communication, an IS/IT planning and implementation will be difficult to attain. people involve in the system should have the proper communication and social skills.

human resource problem - people who will participate in a particular system should be able to comply with the standards of the companies specific IS/IT. when a system is not well implemented and oriented to the participants of the particular, it can be said as a barrier in the IS/IT. as well as in planning, human resource should be considered. for human resource is also one factor in making a system.

we, human beings are the most important component and element in any kind all aspects and situations. for we do have the ability to do so some things not just in physical aspects but as well as mental. we think rationally, we do critical reasoning and our intellect is far to high compared to other creations. humans are totally able. even disabled persons are able to do things in a unique way, unlike animals or other creatures, they are unable to live and flow with the ecology if they are physically disabled. disabled human beings can still do a living even if they are quoted unable.

and yes, human beings are the most difficult to manage, because of the level of thinking among humans, they tend to compete and insist there stand, because of the intellect humans have, ideas collide. because of the human's ability, it has been difficult to suspend one's idea. even if there is a hierarchy or ranks, humans sometimes have a hard time to submit to authority, for ideas of oneself are being insisted. humans has the ability to think for themselves that is why humans are difficult to manage. humans are one of the most complicated element in an organization.

for me, the human is really the perfect creation of God, in both good and bad aspect.

there are certain ways to come up to a IS/IT practice that is uniquely ideal such as:

1. well-trained personnel - people under the management of the said IS/IT should be knowledgeable enough and should be aware of the system they are into. process will be better as of expected for the system to operate.

2. update software and hardware - a good IS/IT also depends on the technology being used. a system runs good on reliable and dependable resources. haste in work will give the system a faster and more convenient service and operation.

3. always create a test - before implementing an new system or updating the system process, a test run should be done to avoid failures and crashes to the real system process.

4. strict and precise implementation of IS/IT - IS/IT should be strict when it comes to technical and personnel policies. to achieve the standards and the expectations of a system, firm and just policies are to be implemented.

5. identify users - identifying clients and users provides better service through the used system process. not only the services rendered to the people but also the welfare of the community in a company. identifying the users of the IS/IT enables the d\system to determine the borders of the field, making it safe from any threats that can cause the fall of an IS/IT.

Why do you think HRM is included in the BSCS/BSIT curriculum?

hmmmmmmmmm? why do i think HRM is included to our curriculum?

for me, it is included so that we IT students will be aware of how a company is being managed. and young as we are we should know how to be under one's management, that we should how to submit to the one's ahead of us. so that we will know how to act as an employee. we should also know what is HRM's role in a company. so that we could participate in the company's procedure properly. and as early as now, we can think of several universal strategies in helping a company. we should be educated on how to become an effective resource in a company.

through this subject, we can widen our thoughts of how to become a good employee someday.

Why do you think IS/IT systems fails?

as the question goes "why do you think?", ill give my opinion.

for me there are some factors that can affect an IS and create failures in the system. some common personal failures can also be a major failure for the IS.

* mechanical and technical problem - if ever a company is undergoing a transaction and the physical system fails, the transaction will be interrupted, not unless there is another system that monitors the transactions and duplicates the task at the same time.

* failure to monitor transactions and tasks - an IS needs to be checked if it still is undergoing the proper procedures, if not, the basis or the backbone of the system will be violated resulting to unwanted outcome of the procedure.

* weak system security - an IS needs to be secured in order for it to undergo the right procedures of the system, if anything can permeate the system due to lack of security, the system may experience malfunction.

* failure to update the system - the IS needs to be checked if it is still able to manipulate the system along with the updates of an institution. if not, the company will not be able to dynamically step-on forward with there task. they will not be able to work continuously using there very own IS.

* human error/negligence in applying IS - the IS will be affected if even one of the participants in the system commits an error in implementing the given system. it is always important to orient the people under the system about the flow of the procedure to prevent human error.

What do you think will the 21st -century corporations look like?

Today, now, we are living in the 21st century. A lot of things have changed since then. The humble machineries of the past have evolved into a more powerful version. We cannot deny the fact that we are living now in an information age. Modernization can be seen just about anywhere.

These information age gave us a lot of things that we should be thankful for. Technological advancements
have help us in more ways than one. And also, with these development, corporations are leaning more on the option of using these faster and in some aspects, more reliable technology than people.

In my own point of view, this should not be the case. For as we know, and it has been stressed numerous times that people are the most important and they play a vital role in the success of a company. Although these technologies greatly helped in improving a corporation, people are far more superior that those things. For technology follows a strict guideline in which they follow no matter what, for they are programmed to do so. People, on the other hand, are more flexible. They can see what is best for the success of a corporation and they can change things when they see fit or for the best of the corporation.

The bottom line is, in a 21st corporation, the people should not be undermined just because of the new technology. For we know, they can make or break a corporation..

this dancers here appeared in "step up 2 the streets". dont you know that this guyz are the champion in the mtv reality show "randy jackson presents Americas best dance crew".

but the better part here is, this group is compose of 5 filipinos. the founders of the group are 2 filipinos and 1 american. asian race is dominant in this group and the most number of nationality is filipino. in the show, 3 filipinos appeared(gatdula,paguio,tayag). but in the original group there are 5 filipinos. another thing to be proud about filipinos. we rock!!!!

this is our first presentation.. not that good but also not that bad for a 3rd place in street dance competition. among all the competetors, we are the only group that danced street, other groups dance good but it's not the street thing. we are continuing the crew. tell me if you want to join.

downsizing

i cant remember when, but way back 1990's my uncle was an employee from the universal Robina corporation.
i dont even know how many of them but several of them were cut-off from the payroll of URC. they were once a part of the downsizing of the said company. surprisingly, i was not only him and his fellow workers with the same rank but also hiss very own boss who ia also a family friend.
as far as i can remember they where removed from the company for some reasons about finance, or somehow there are to many people enlisted in the companies payroll. and after that they were replaced with new workers.

i've been looking for an article about this in the internet but unfortunately i found nothing. there are some but the infos are too poor.
im not so sure about the reason of the companies downsizing but im sure my uncle was a part of it.

among the 5 online jobs, i would like to take jobs on numbers 2,3 & 5.
based on my 1st assignment, these 3 jobs fit my interest. of course you could work well on a job that you love. so how is being a GM part of my desired job? though being a GM is not that busy, being a GM is part of the world of animation. when a person is apart of a team that creates animation for a computer game, there is a big chance of being a part of the GM team. but if ill rate my choices (1-5[5 is top pick]), it'll go like this.

this links are sites where we can see what is "green campus computing" and what are the stuffs closely related to it.

it was stated in the sites that energy consumption greatly affect global warming. using energy emits a little amount of CO2. well may be just a little, but try to think how many gadgets that need electricity are being used around the world. remember that BIG THINGS COME FROM SMALL THINGS! even a little amount of CO2 will result to a big something when it builds up, add it up to the CO2 that human emits. so going back to the computing thing, green campus computing focuses on the area where energy is being used to computing. talking about computing, we are talking about COMPUTERS. it concerns the solution on how to reduce the causes of global warming through computing.

so how can we take part on this so-called "Green Campus Computing"?

*turn off PC when not in use.
*when leaving thew computer turned ON while downloading or other stuffs that don't need the use of a monitor, turn off the monitor.
*dont turn on the computer when it is not ready to use and so to the printer.
*WHEN USING A SLOW COMPUTER, DONT DARE TO HESITATE ON BUYING UPGRADE ACCESSORIES. REMEMBER! THE FASTER THE COMPUTER IS, THE SHORTER TIME NEEDED TO USE IT. AND THE SHORTER THE TIME FOR COMPUTING, LESS ENERGY MEANS LESS HEAT!!!

i hope USEP could afford to buy FASTER COMPUTERS.

open source software(OSS) are somehow softwares that does not need any license or registrstion to avail legal acces on softwares.

almost all of the computers now in the world aren't using licensed software which is still a part of piracy. thus, using open source softwares instead puts us out of the crime called piracy.

so how can we implement it in our university?

for me this are some of the ways:

1. conduct a seminar regarding open source software.
2. make a campaign to exercise the usage of open source software.
3. make leaflets about the importance of using this OSS.
4. make some posters about using OSS.
5. make an advertise and a campaign of using OSS in the university website.
